During an internal Brunswick inspection, a 2012 model year Bayliner 185BR was identified not having the natural ventilation hose routed to the bottom 1/3 of the bilge which is not compliant to CFR 183.630(b). Upon further investigation, an engineering change was made at the beginning of the 2012 model year to remove some redundant hose. Unfortunately, the wrong hoses were removed. Boats were built with 21" length hose instead of the 30" length which would comply with the CFR. We have made the necessary engineering changes to comply with the CFR. The 2010 & 2011 model year 160BR product was built with a non-stainless steel toggle bolt that can corrode and fail. The 2011 180BR & 185BR product was built with a self-tapping wood screw instead of a machine bolt. In both cases, a failure may result in the seat bases & pedestals to come loose from the cockpit floor and possibly result in injury.
